Safety

Basic information

Harmonised product safety legislation is one of the cornerstones of the Single Market and the free movement of goods. Only safe and traceable products should be allowed to be placed on the market, and business must inform consumers of any risks associated with their products. Safety legislation will have to keep up with technological innovations and online marketing practices in the digital age to ensure that it remains fit for purpose.
