GEN – 755.00. The Regulation 765/2008 obliges the Member States to inform the European Commission and the other Member States about the national implementation, the review of past and the announcement of the annual market surveillance activities.

Update 2017 programmes

By the end of February 2017, the planned 2017 market surveillance activities in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany (partly), Iceland, Luxembourg, Poland, Sweden, Norway and Turkey were available and can be downloaded from the Commission website.

The Commission is asking the other Member States to provide their 2017 national market surveillance programmes.

The reports describe the way market surveillance is organised, the competent national authorities and the way these function and cooperation with other Member States or within the context of specific programmes (e.g. Eepliant).

Recommended Action

The Product Groups within Eurovent and manufacturers are recommended to check the activities that relate to their products. The main areas of concern are construction products, pressure equipment, gas appliances, machinery, waste of electric and electronic equipment, energy labelling and energy related products (eco-design).

The national associations are recommended to analyse their national programmes and to establish contacts with the competent authorities.

The 2017 information for Germany. The members may wish to know that for energy related products (eco-design) a regional market surveillance authority “Marktüberwachungsbehörden” was set up in 2014. It is known as “Regierungspräsidium Tübingen – Abteilung 11 – Marktüberwachung” and has five divisions: “Referat 111-112-113-114-115”. Referat 115 in Stuttgart is responsible for Ecodesign of Energy Related Products and has indeed started to look at various products, including fans. It is expected that this information will appear in the 2017 programme.
