Update SASO XXXX: 2016 – Large Capacity Air Conditioners – Performance Requirements and Methods of Testing – Revision 1 (GEN – 717.00)

20 September 2016

GEN – 717.00. The revised standard submitted to WTO on 5 September 2016 now includes reference to both ANSI/AHRI and ISO standards/testing methods.

Revision includes reference to ISO standards

Contrary to what we mentioned in the GEN 715.00 document the revised SASO standard does differ from the original one.

At our request the European Commission checked the related databases. It appeared that the text related to revised notification was not added to the website. This has now been done.

The SASO standard nor refers to both ANSI/AHRI and ISO standards.

The request by Eurovent to the European Commission to intervene has proven to be successful.

Please do take note of the article 7.2 regarding acceptability of products at registration

7.2.2 Path B – Product using test report to justify the performance

7.2.2.1 General

A test report from an accredited laboratory shall be presented for registration.

This test report shall include results for cooling capacity and EER at T1 and T3 and check for operability at 52°C.

The test procedure shall correspond to the type of product and relevant testing standard as described in Clause 5.’

Eurovent will look into the further details of this revised standard.
