GEN – 940.00. The prototype of EPREL that has become available on 28 August relates to eight product groups that are not within the sphere of Eurovent. It is expected that the prototypes for professional refrigerated storage cabinets, residential ventilation, air-conditioners, space and water heaters including heat pumps will become available soon.
Prototype of EPREL
A prototype of EPREL has been made available in the Pilot environment: https://webgate.acceptance.ec.europa.eu/eprel
The following product groups are available: Lamps, Vacuumcleaners, Televisions, Household dishwashers, Household washing machines, Local space heaters, Domestic ovens and Range hoods.
The prototype is a non-secured test environment
The new prototypes replace the previous database prototype version that has been removed. The initial users (mainly lamp industry) that tested the original prototype will again have to create user profiles, organisations and models.
The environment of the prototypes for these eight products must be considered as a non-secured “sand-box” for testing the system. Manufacturers wishing to test the prototype environment should not enter sensitive data.
Updates to the exchange model
In parallel, the Commission has applied some updates to the exchange model based on feedback from the industry and internal reviews. You can find the new version in the Forum: https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/fpfis/wikis/display/EPREL/EPREL+Exchange+Model+Documentation+v2.03

Eurovent follow-up
Because of the complexity of the database, Eurovent has asked Eurovent Certita Certification and ProdBIM that have experience with databases to investigate EPREL. Both are accompanying the EPREL developments and are looking into testing the prototypes so that they can analyse this better when the prototypes for five product groups that concern Eurovent can be dealt with.
Recommended actions
The manufacturers concerned by EPREL are recommended to identify who will do this job within their company and to prepare for trial tests soon. It will require cooperation inside the companies with the IT departments that should become familiar with eDelivery and the other aspects related to uploading data into EPREL.
