GEN – 1079.00. The Commission has just issued the update of Policy Officers for the different Ecodesign and Energy Labelling files. Below, you may find the outline their competences and the present status of the individual Lots.

Lot 38 – Building Automation Control Systems

  • The consortium is composed of VITO (lead), Waide Strategic Efficiency Ltd, RICARDO
  • Between October 2016 and September 2018, a scoping study took place
  • The preparatory study started in July 2019 and will run until December 2020
  • The first stakeholder meeting is scheduled for February 2020
  • Lot XX – ICT
  • Study to be launched
  • The consortium involved would include VHK and Viegand Maagøe

Lot 33 – Smart Appliances

  • This study was carried out in two phases:  September 2014 to February 2017 and March 2017 to October 2018
  • The consortium is composed of VITO (lead), Viegand Maagøe, Universität Bonn, Armines, Wuppertal Institut

Lot 20 – Local Space Heaters

  • The consortium is composed of Viegand Maagøe (lead), Danish Technological Institute
  • The review study took place between October 2017 and September 2018
  • On 10 September 2019 a Consultation Forum took place to consider the merging of energy labelling of different products from wood fired stoves, to air conditioning and heat pumps
  • The Commission intends to wait with further steps until the revision of the labelling of local space heaters becomes available by 1 January 2024

  • The study was carried out within a framework contract involving VHK, VITO, Viegand Maagøe, Wuppertal Institut, Armines
  • The Regulatory Scrutiny Board approved the (2nd proposed) Impact Assessment November 2019

Lot 10 – Review Air Conditioning Regulations 626/2011 and 206/2012

  • Review study carried out by Viegand Maagøe and Armines from February 2017 to May 2018

  • Follow-up study by Viegand Maagøe and Armines that will look at double ducts’ efficiency, BAM testing method (single, double and split units), influence of humidity (split units) and influence of the air blowing temperature (split units)
  • A Working Group meeting would be called for in February 2020
  • The Impact Assessment should be ready by mid 2020

Lot 21 – Regulation 2016/2281 – Air Heating Products, Cooling Products, High-temperature Process Chillers and Fan Coil Units 

  • Review study not yet started, it should be available by 1 January 2022
  • Preparatory study by Bio Intelligence July 2010 to July 2012
  • Technical assistance study by VHK, 2014

Lot 12 – Regulations 2019/2018 and 2019/2024 Refrigeration Appliances with a Direct Sales Function

  • These regulations will enter into force on 1 March 2021
  • Review study not yet started. It should be available by 25 December 2023
  • Preparatory study by Bio Intelligence (2007-2009) and JRC (2012 to 2014)

  • The review study would be launched by mid-2020

The members are asked to watch over the progress of the review studies. The respective Product Groups are participating to the reviews. Members are encouraged to register for the review studies.
