GEN – 956.00. The draft of this regulation has just been published for the European “4-week feedback mechanism” and the global 60-day period for comments.

First time use of the “4-week feedback mechanism” in the HVACR and related industries

The outline of the ecodesign energy labelling process can be found in the graph below:

It is now possible for the industry to comment on the draft regulations when they go out for Inter Service Consultation (see GEN – 950.00 on Refrigerated appliances with direct sales function).

The draft for the ecodesign regulation for electric motors and variable speed drives has taken a while to materialise, as it failed the Impact Assessment a few times.

The Commission has now opened the consultation under the “4-week feedback mechanism”.

Anyone interested in the subject can comment between 24 October and 21 November.

You may notice that an anonymous US citizen has already been the first to comment.

Recommended Actions

Manufacturers producing or making use of electric motors and variable speed drives in their products are recommended to check the contents of these proposals. 

If required, individual comments can be posted by 21 November under the “4-week feedback mechanism”.

If necessary, the Eurovent Association can react or file a WTO complaint.
